Low back pain
Back pain is common in the adult population. The pain may occur in a particular area (lumbar, thoracic, or cervical) or may manifest in a larger area of the back. The most common back pain is low back pain.
Muscle strain is among the causes of low back pain. Back muscles and ligaments may stretch or rupture due to overactivity. Rest and physical therapy are remedies for these symptoms. A herniated disc may be another cause of the pain. The strength of the back discs decreases with age.
Signs and symptoms of back pain may include muscle aches and stiffness in the lower back, muscle spasms, pain radiating down the leg, pain that worsens while bending, lifting, standing, or walking.
