Milk thistle
Mary’s thistle (Silybum marianum), also known as milk thistle, is a plant in the Asteraceae family, often found in warm climate. For centuries, milk thistle seeds have been used for medical purposes, due to the content of silymarin, with a hepatoprotective effect.
The plant is rich in beneficial substances, such as beta-carotene and silybin, but also contains many nutrients: fatty acids, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, manganese, selenium, and zinc.
