Stretch
A muscle stretch is presented as an overworked or ruptured muscle. It usually feels like a muscle strain in the affected area. The stretch usually occurs as a result of fatigue, excessive effort, or sudden movements.
Stretches can affect any muscle but are most common in the lumbar, neck, or shoulder.
Muscle stretches cause pain and can restrict movement. Mild to moderate stretches can be successfully treated at home with ice, heat, and anti-inflammatory medicines. The muscle may feel slightly stiff, but it is flexible enough to be used. Severe stretches or ruptures require medical treatment and involve pain and the possibility of very limited movement.
Symptoms of muscle stretches include sudden onset of pain, restricted movement, bruising, or swelling of the affected area.
