Fructose
Fructose, or fruit sugar, is one of the three dietary monosaccharides, along with glucose and galactose, which is absorbed directly into the bloodstream during digestion.
Pure and dry fructose is a sweet, white, odorless, crystalline solid substance, and it is the most water-soluble of all sugars. It is found in honey, fruits and vines, flowers, berries, and most root vegetables.
Industrially, fructose is derived from sugar cane, sugar beet, and corn. All forms of fructose, including fruits and juices, are commonly added to foods and beverages to enrich the taste and to brown certain foods in the case of ripe products.
